Bombay Babu a good place, our reward

Recommended Restaurant, Our Reward

The Bombay Babu team
Consistency over time is necessary to achieve any worthwhile goal and here at Bombay Babu, we have spent years working responsibly and with motivation and perseverance. The result of all this effort is easily demonstrated in the unique selection of special recipes we have on offer. It’s the only way to achieve what we have achieved and we can state proudly that we offer the best traditional Hindu food in the south of Tenerife and that Bombay Babu is a now highly recommended restaurant, which has already garnered important culinary prizes. That is our reward.

The entrepreneur

Prakash Mahar and his family, Indian though with a UK background, has been in business in Tenerife for almost 20 years and he knows his customers well. He also travels back and forth to India frequently, to see members of his extended family, stock up on exclusive supplies of fresh spices and herbs for the restaurant and research into ideas for new recipes. The family also has an extensive farm on the island, in Las Galletas, where a large proportion of the vegetables and specialist produce they use comes from, particularly for those with non-standard dietary needs. Despite his youth, Prakash had already had a successful commercial career elsewhere before opening his dream restaurant, the Bombay Babu Indian Tandoori restaurant in Torviscas, and the enthusiasm and ingenuity with which he has steered the business so far has meant that the restaurant is going from strength to strength.

Waiting staff

Chosen not just for their waiting skills, friendliness and multilingual abilities, Bombay Babu’s staff will also help guide you to an Indian gastronomic experience the like of which you never imagined would be possible. They are fully au fait with the ingredients in each dish and will be able too to advise those with special dietary needs such as lactate or gluten intolerance.

The restaurant

The spacious premises of the Bombay Babu are nestled in a small, quiet enclave just above the Torviscas beach. There’s a huge open terrace and the restaurant itself is also open fronted so that you can eat indoors too without feeling closed in. The décor has a modern Indian feel and the large television screen unobtrusively entertains the diners with the classic Bollywood films which so many enjoy. That is when there isn’t a special party night organised, for a Western or Indian celebration such as Valentine’s Day or Diwali when an even more exquisite menu at a special price is on offer and the Bollywood dancers are for real. You’ll love the comfortable rattan seating and the spacing of the tables ensuring plenty of elbow room and privacy.
